They had no choice on that matter. That was actually just compensation for making the car bigger. They had to do something about the car being less nimble in the turns due to the longer wheelbase.

Believe it or not, that was supposed to be for torque steer prevention. Even worse - the bushings on all 8 arms are not replaceable, you have to buy a full set of new control arms when the rubber goes.
I had an allroad. I felt the pain sucking on my wallet.
